The ages from birth to 5 (and onwards) are a critical period of development and amazing - as babies grow into little human beings and a massive amount of neurological, physical and emotional developments take place.
It’s a time for exploration, enthused engagement, repetition and familiarity, all sorts of play, being outside, curiosity, risk-taking, developing ideas, language, healthy habits and thought, being imaginative and having fun.
Play IS learning for young children and babies and the most essential part of their developmental journey as well as their beginnings into formalised education as enthusiastic learners.
Play ideas don’t have to be difficult, expensive or involve plastic (best if they don't in most cases as this allows for more use of imagination and what’s called ‘open -ended ‘ play!) but can be fun, simple, engaging and an essential part of the bonding and learning process.
This page will develop to include lots of ideas for parents and carers, as well as links, interesting articles and key information about child development and the links to play for different age groups, which is simple, cheap, engaging and fun for you to read and try out whilst you enjoy time with your young children.
